What should I expect if I take a Taste of Our Town Tour?

Our walking and tasting tours are led by local Mount Dorians. The tour takes place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons (with exceptions due to Festival weekends and Holidays) beginning at 1:45 pm. We meet at the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce located at 341 Alexander Street. The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and we will be walking approximately one mile. While walking through the streets of Mount Dora, we will “Taste” of the town’s fascinating history and culture. As we stroll, we will stop by local bistros, food and wine shops, eateries, and restaurants for a “Taste” of delicious food and wine specialties. Some tastings will take place outside and some inside, depending on the particular establishment and on weather conditions. The tour changes daily based on the day of the week and number of guests.

What is the price of the tour?

The cost for the General Admission tour is $95.00 per person (plus sales tax & $2 Fee to EZTicket) which covers the full tour with tastings (including cocktails) at 6-7 restaurants. We also offer private tours by appointment only for $115.00 per person. Host gratuity is not included in the ticket price and is much appreciated at your discretion.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?

Tickets must be purchased in advance and tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book as far in advance as possible. Tickets can be purchased with a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

If a tour is sold out can I get on a waiting list?

We do not provide a waiting list. If a date is sold out, there is always a chance that we will add an additional tour. Please email your tour guides at [email protected] or call (352) 729-6291. Leave a message letting us know your contact information and what date you are interested in. We will call you back within 24 hours.

What is the refund policy?

Unfortunately, we are unable to give refunds. We do require a minimum of at least 2 guests and will move your tour to another day or issue a Gift Certicate with no expiration date. If for some reason, extenuating circumstances arise and you are unable to make your scheduled tour a rain check can possibly be arranged. We will call you back within 24 hours.

Is Taste of Our Town Tours for adults only?

Our food tasting and cultural walking tours have been developed for food and history lovers. In our touring experience we have found that those under the age of 21 may not fully appreciate our tours as they are geared toward adults. Along the way, we will also be sampling alcoholic beverages. Having explained the nature of the tour, it is up to the adult’s discretion if you feel this is an adventure for your child to experience. Do tours take place if the weather is bad?

All of our tours are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. We will not be outdoors for the entire 2.5 hours. You should still dress appropriately for the day’s weather conditions and carry an umbrella if rain is likely. It is impossible to cancel a tour at the very last minute due to many circumstances beyond our control. Before purchasing tickets, please be aware of the possible weather conditions for that time of year.

How should I dress during a tour?

Please dress in casual attire appropriate for the weather conditions. Comfortable shoes are a must.

Are tour guide gratuities included in the price?

Gratuities are not included in the cost of our tours. Gratuities are appreciated and left to your discretion as to whether or not a gratuity is given to your tour guides.

Are Gratuities expected at restaurants?

Everything is included in your ticket price. Some people do like to show appreciation for excellent food and service by tipping servers accordingly. This is left to your discretion.

How many people can attend a tour?

The maximum number of people per tour guide is 12 and minimum is 2. Private tours can be arranged in advance to allow additional guests on a case by case basis.

How much food is served on the tours?

There are approximately 6-7 stops for tastings on our tours. The majority of our customers have verbalized to us that they are completely full and satisfied at the end of the tour. Our advice is to have a light breakfast lunch and don’t make dinner plans!

What restaurants will we visit on the tour?

We visit various restaurants per neighborhood and sample food and drink throughout the tour. Tour stops are hand-selected and change daily to allow us to showcase additional vendors and also allow for repeat guests to experience different stops.

Are there any beverages served on the tour?

Most of our stops involve tastes of wine or beer for those who so desire. Non Alcoholic alternatives are also available. For those seeking additional drinks, purchases at various venues are available.

What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?

Please be aware of your specific allergies or restrictions and do not partake of food items that may harm you. Due to the nature of the tour, each establishment highlights the best and most unique aspects of what they offer. Unfortunately, there isn’t always a “next best” option that also meets the special dietary needs of each of our guests. Since we have your health (and palate) in mind, we truly appreciate your understanding on this issue.

Are your walking tours wheelchair accessible?

Are tours offered only in English?

May I bring my dog on the tour?

Due to state regulations, only service dogs are allowed in food establishments. Many local merchants are pet friendly though. You may note which ones have outdoor deck areas available for you and your pet’s future visit.

Does this tour have anything to offer Mount Dora Locals?

Definitely! Many of our attendees live right here in the Mount Dora area. Locals often attend to learn more about Mount Dora and the local area. But mainly, locals love to eat and drink! It’s part of the local culture and a fun activity for friends to experience.
